Scope of Activity


Federal Institute for Agriculture Sarajevo is a legal successor of the Agricultural Institute Sarajevo, and the transformation had followed the enactment of the Law on modifications and amendments of the Law on Federal Ministries and Other Bodies of the Federal Administration (“Official Gazette of F BiH“ No 38/05 dated  July 4, 2005). This Law defines the tasks of this institution.

With the Decision of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on taking over the tasks from the scope of the Federal Institute of Agriculture Sarajevo from the Agricultural Institute Sarajevo No. 148/06 Dated March 30, 2006 (“Official Gazette of F BiH“ No 20/06), the legal continuity of this Institute as an independent federal institution – organization was reaffirmed.

Federal Institute for Agriculture Sarajevo carries out the tasks under jurisdiction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (“Official Gazette of F BiH“ No 35/05, Article 28.),referring to organization of reporting-forecasting services in plant protection: growing-selection tasks in cattle breeding; certification of seed and seedlings of agricultural plants; examination of foodstuffs; control of quality and quantity of agricultural products and their derivates, mineral fertilizers and plant protection products; tasks in area of tobacco and fruit growing; education of farmers, care about soil as a basic natural resource in the continental climate region as well as other plant and animal production characteristic for this region.
